None of us are strangers to big pores and oily skin, and know how unsightly and annoying it can be. If you have oily skin, or even just oily T-zone, then you have felt what a nuisance it can be to have big pores that fill up with dirt. At the same time the skin looks uneven and shiny.
As much as we try to cover them up sometimes, it is simply impossible. Moreover, we might make everything worse by using too much makeup while trying to cover it up. Store-bought pore tightening products can be really expensive and not always work. Even though they may provide temporary results, the pores will eventually come back.
But don’t worry! This post will focus on some homemade remedies for reducing enlarged pores that will not only clean out your skin and even out the skin tone, they are cheap, natural and effective on the long run.
1. Egg whites and lemon juice
One simple remedy you can make uses egg whites and lemon juice. You need to mix a few drops of lemon juice with two egg whites until you get a thick paste. Apply the paste to your face, or the areas where you have pores and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Then, just rinse it off! This is a very effective way of cleaning the skin, getting rid of the extra oil and tightening the pores.
2. Tomato and lemon juice
For this one you need to make a puree out of two tomatoes. As in the previous recipe, add several lemon drops and mix it well so you get a thick paste. Take the paste and put it on your face, focusing on the areas that are most affected. Let the mask sit for about 15-20 minutes. Then simply rinse it off and enjoy the amazing results. The acids in both the lemon and the tomatoes will get rid of the excess oil on your skin and clean your pores.
3. Rosewater, lemon and cucumber
This powerful trio will help you get rid of those nasty pores and leave your face fresh and clean. What you need to do is peel the cucumber and leave the fleshy part. Next, you need to take a teaspoon of rosewater and combine it with several lemon drops. Mix everything well and apply it on a light cloth. Put the cloth on your face and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Wait until it dries out completely and then rinse it off.
4. Pineapple and lemon juice
This one is also a piece of cake. Simply mix a few drops of lemon juice with 2 tbsp of pineapple juice. Dip a light cloth in the juice and apply on the face. Let it work its magic for about 10 minutes and then rinse. The lemon will act as an astringent while the pineapple juice will reduce the pores.
5. Almond and lemon juice
This one requires a little bit of overnight preparation. Soak a few almonds overnight and in the morning make a paste by grinding them. Add a tsp of lemon juice into the paste and apply it on your face. Let it work for 20-25 mins and rinse it off.
